Financial Policy
- We deliver high quality care at very reasonable rates.
- We are contracted in and work with most medical aids.
- We offer discounted rates to private patients or medical aid patients who wish to pay cash for their treatment.
Things to know about Medical aid related claims
- Medical aids independently determine what fee they pay for a particular procedure – this is not determined by the practice!
- Medical Aids independently determine which procedures are covered by their scheme or option you are contracted to – this is not determined by the practise!
- Not all procedures are covered by all medical aids or options on a particular medical aid.
- Some medical aids require that you must make co-payments for certain procedures.
- All patients, even those on Medical aid remain responsible for the payment for services rendered. If you are uncertain of what your medical aid will cover our admin staff can assist you in determining the amount. Unfortunately as medical aids often employ new staff we often encounter incidents where inexperienced staff provide incorrect information to us or the members themselves which can result in treatment being carried out which the medical aid does not cover. In all such cases you will remain liable for the payment of the service.
- In the cases where you require treatment not covered by your medical aid or if you are not on medical aid we have very, very reasonable private rates. We have discounted these rates as we have no cost and minimal administration compared to medical aid related claims.
- Patients who are concerned about savings, are advised to speak to the dental team ahead of any planned treatment to determine what cost would be. We are willing to offer discounts under certain circumstances.
Private Patients or Treatment not covered by medical aids
- All fees are due once the treatment has been completed – normally at the time of delivery of the service. We charge very reasonable fees when we do not have to incur high administration costs related to collecting money and the associated bad debt, which forces other practices to get their paying patients to subsidise the non-paying patients.
- For your convenience, we accept most credit and debit cards. Edgars and other related account holders can also pay for treatment using these cards. This form of payment does attract additional fees as set out with the relevant credit provider.
- All treatment involving laboratory work will require significant deposits, and you are advised to discuss this with the admin staff. No work will be completed by the laboratory in the event of fees being outstanding.
